I loved this movie as a kid. Every time I cut a cake I remember the scene where Popeye carefully cuts a slice of cake at a party—then lifts the rest of it onto his plate, leaving behind only the slice. It’s a perfect live-action version of a cartoon gag.

What’s different - and what I think the city should play up more - is the open gangway design. It’s a four-car train, but once you’re inside you can move freely through the entire space, like it’s one giant car. It's a pretty unique approach among U.S. systems

It’s extremely strange to open an article and see pictures of birds smeared in crude oil and have my first thought be: “Man, I wish dad was still around to complain again about how mean, smelly and stupid penguins are, and what a pain in the ass they are to try and save.”

The whole #OceanGate thing is weirdly making me miss my father, a disaster response expert who worked primarily on maritime disasters like oil spills and emergency situations on commercial vessels. Love to just pick up the phone and ask what he’d think about all this.
