Which type of neurodivergent are YOU?

1) The Trash Possum Neurodivergent, residing amongst dirty dishes and garbage bags, living in a hell of their own making

2) The overwhelmed sobbing neurodivergent who doesn't know why they can't stop crying

3) The feral goblin neurodivergent - hyperfocus go WHEEEEEE!

4) The shutdown and shut-out neurodivergent who does not want to be talked to nor perceived

5) The neurodivergent who overthinks which type of neurodivergent they are, even though there are no stakes. What represents them? Can they truly claim to know themself?

All I want is a social media platform which works on my desktop and my phone, consists of moments of blink-and-you'll-miss-it interactions, and allows me to moan companionably about the many roads we're traveling to our own demise while also laughing at photos of cat butts.

It's unclear how the review of books in Florida schools will affect study & knowledge of African American contributions. “Our world is so small when it comes to Black folks. We don't even know there's all this history that we can learn,” says

If Florida, teachers are advised to hide their books to avoid felony charges. At one school, “the kids began crying and writing letters to the principal, saying, ‘Please don’t take my books, please don’t do this.’”

I'm sure some of these know-nothings would criminalize Milton Berle and Bugs Bunny if they could.

A new intro'd bill in Arizona would criminalize drag in presence of a minor as a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a requirement to register as a sex offender. The bill defines drag as just singing and dancing while wearing make-up. legiscan.com/AZ/text/SB1698

"To say that many good and admirable people are police officers, dedicated and brave public servants, which is, of course, true, is to fail to address both the nature and the scale of the crisis and the legacy of centuries of racial injustice."

MN Police claimed George Floyd died of a “medical incident” & made 0 mention of kneeling on his neck for 9 min Memphis Police claimed Tyre Nichols had “trouble breathing” & made 0 mention of beating him for 10 min Media needs to hold police accountable—not parrot their claims.

An unaccountable institution that murders people should be disbanded. This should not be controversial. If instead you give that institution more money, resources and status, as we have seen, it will murder more people.

Four films from the past 10 years that I consider masterpieces.
Joaquin Phoenix looking at a computer screen in the movie Her
Still from The Grand Budapest Hotel - Tony Revolori (in lobby boy uniform) stands in the foreground on the right, Ralph Fiennes and another man (not sure who) stand in the background behind a counter, with the word "CONCIERGE" in big metallic art deco letters above it
The two principle characters of the film Your Name, with the title in English and Japanese in front of them
The main family from Roma in a group hug on a beach, sunlit from behind with waves breaking behind them.

Yay Dolly! But speaking of the Grammy Hall of Fame…is the Hall on pause for another year, or will there be an announcement of new inductees at some point?

Shine on us today @DollyParton. 🎶 🎤 The country #singer is a ten-time GRAMMY-winning artist, earning her first ever GRAMMY for her #song "Here You Come Again." Fun Fact: Her songs "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," have both been inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame.

Captain Beefheart, horror. "Ashtray Heart". "Big Eyed Beans from Venus". "Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)". "Pachuco Cadaver". "Sweet Sweet Bulbs". "Grow Fins". "The Thousandth and Tenth Day of the Human Totem Pole". With titles like that, how can it miss?

You get to edit an anthology of crime or horror stories inspired by a musician (I’ve been part of a few and they’re a lot of fun). Who’s your pick?

As someone with a History B.A. who's never had a relevant job in the field, this hit home. I recommend the thread, the NY Times essay, and the essay cited further down.

This is a very good piece. History as a profession is in decline, and while it's true that not all historians are or need be professionals, it's also true that a lot of history doesn't get written, and a lot of questions won't get asked, any other way. nytimes.com/2023/01/14/opi

Thread. No words to express my anger and disgust. But worth pointing out that these fascist education policies, meant to chill precisely this kind of discussion, hurt kids the most. They lie to students, they infantilize students, they insult their intelligence and kill curiosity

An Ohio teacher, who was reading The Sneetches to her Grade 3 class, was abruptly cut off by an admin when a student said "It's almost like what happened back then, how people were treated. Like, disrespected. Like, white people disrespected Black people.” dispatch.com/story/news/edu

New York Pizza & Pasta, which was across the street from the building where I had my last morning class and I used to go get a slice of cheese pizza and sprinkle garlic powder on it - delish! Also, it is not even in the same time zone as New York....

I almost replied to someone else's tweet a little bit ago, but then thought, "You know what? [Original poster] does not need to hear that from me." One's social media profile is defined as much by what one keeps to one's self as much as what one puts out there in public.
