I agree with most of your analysis in this video. However, I was a little surprised that you didn’t mention that “Barry Lyndon” was something of a fallback project from the historical epic that Kubrick really wanted to do: a biopic of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Hi Rob, I searched for the "reign of King George III" line in the novel. King George II was originally named in the book. Do you think this change is part of a theme Re: Anglo-American history in the movie? Does it imply anything at all about Kubrick's view of American history?
