Transferring (reducing) $$$ misspent on useless weapons to useful infrastructure would be a start. Fallacy is that we can "afford" the weapons.
If we can afford to spend more on our military than the next eight nations combined, then we can certainly afford to invest in renewables, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and high-speed rail to build a sustainable future.
