It’s not a surprise that turnout is so low in America. It’s by design. To increase participation, we need to improve voter access: 🗳️ Early voting 🗳️ Open primaries 🗳️ End voter ID laws 🗳️ Automatic voter registration 🗳️ Make Election Day a national holidaypic.twitter.com/OEtlUDuV9u

The main reason people don't vote is because neither party represents their interests. Even in states with easy voting, like CO, WA, and OR, half of eligible voters don't participate.

You are right. This is what they are ignoring. Voter participation overall is down. It is not just about making it easier to vote. It is also about giving people candidates they want to vote for!

Holiday? What on earth for? Just vote on Saturday like we do in Australia ... it’s really pretty easy.

Point taken. But some (esp lower end earners) work on Saturday. The holiday would still be a good idea.

Labour laws here are much better, without question, though it’s just accepted that the election is a Saturday, and if you’re out of your district, just cast an absentee works well.

If you propose to end voter ID laws, let’s end ID laws for everything

Actually, the reasons for ending voter ID laws have everything to do with our constitution, protecting our rights to vote. ID's cost money. If you require an ID, you are imposing a voter tax. How about SS# card? It s ID from our GOVT. Will that do? It is free.

Actually Lisa I think that’s an amazing idea. Only problem is picture identification is a better identifier. Sure ID costs a trivial amount of money and considering you need one for many other things it seems unlikely you wouldn’t have one.

Yes, why do two people have sex that will possibly create a being when neither the transient male, nor the suddenly pregnant female have sex in the first place? Risking such an outcome? I can not imagine. Can you? Hmm. Oh, and changes happen in life.

No one EXPECTS anything! These are all negative assumptions you are making about your fellow human beings, your fellow Americans. Sounds like you need to turn off Fox & stop listening to Trump ugliness. Most people are inherently good, if you give them a chance to be. Just stop!

Our elections are easily stolen. ALL electronic voting machines are hackable. ALL OF THEM. We must demand #handmarked #paperballots nationwide. Other countries use paper ballots successfully, why don’t we?!https://medium.com/@jennycohn1/breaking-news-most-western-democracies-flee-voting-machines-america-clings-to-them-while-refusing-569e5036695f …
