Limiting aid to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador won’t stop mass migration. It will only fuel the poverty and violence that caused thousands to seek asylum in the first place.

Let's not forget that the poverty and violence are overwhelmingly the direct consequence of cynical, self -serving and morally bankrupt US foreign policy in the region.

Maybe you should check out the aid, most of which is going to military use, police training US-style, and drug interdiction. Not sure there would be more poverty or violence if any of that spending was cut out.

That's not necessarily true. It depends on the international policy we work out with these countries.

But isn't that what Trump wants? If he doesn't have the migrants then he doesn't have something to stoke fear in the gullible fools.

Why is it OUR job to stabilize these regions? Why don't these people protest THEIR governments and ask for systematic changes instead of protesting Trump and trying to come here? Read Dead Aid by @dambisamoyo - it's up to them, not the US. We shouldn't be in Middle East either

Um, why is then our job to destabilize these countries ? And, why are you not protesting your government for doing so ? Honduras and Hernandez whom we support makes you proud ? Get a grip!

Will you please note that only FOUR percent of US aid goes directly to governments? The majority goes to US orgs who train locals in an array of areas, ie.e health, education, enviro, etc. https://fas.org/sgp/crs/row/R44117.pdf …
