In 2005, investors merged Sears with Kmart, saddled the company with huge amounts of debt and then used it on stock buybacks to enrich shareholders. In the next decade, 175,000 employees lost their jobs. Our economy is clearly rigged to benefit investors over workers.

I reckon board members who do this type of thing at the expense of the working class should be allowed to be hunted. Would be the most watched TV show and ad profits could go to charities and the unemployed.

Corporations are there to make profits for their shareholders. Sears and Kmart weren’t that great, and everyone shops elsewhere. The death of Sears and Kmart is what is great about Capitalism.

You realize this was nothing more than a run of the mill boiler room pump and dump scam right? Leveraged stock buybacks were one of the main causes of the Great Depression and hence they were made illegal till Regan legalized it.This isn't value creation, this is value extraction

I object to your use of the word "investors" in this context. More appropriate words: thieves, embezzlers, robbers, ripoffs, opportunists, plutocrats, grifters, scammers, Republican donors...

The U.S. has no need for intermediate-range missiles unless we have plans to nuke Canada or Mexico -- which may well be the case with this president.

As a former member of the Sears organization I’ll challenge your assertion. Sears was failing in the mid to late 70’s, long before Eddie L. In 79 our employees went to pickup their layaways... not there. Never caught up with the times.

The move that initially kept @kmart from liquidation, where EVERYONE would have lost their jobs, for a merchant who served lower-income communities, remaining in business? So you blame investors for saving them in the short term + obviously would have blamed them had they not.
