The pundits say that millennials are “killing” marriages, homeownership, car dealerships, starting families and other indicators of a middle class life. Here's one reason: 44 million Americans are being weighed down by almost $1.5 trillion in student loans.

And they followed the orders of this older generation.. try telling your kids to do anything they don’t want too. This was an indulgence and 4 years loaf on their parents money. How many parents are on hook with this?

How can they kill stuff they can't afford??? No one can afford a new car, a house, supporting a family, going to movies, taking vacations. Millennials aren't killing anything. Their parents and grandparents generations killed their futures by destroying the middle class.

how is it 'millennials' fault that u.s. govt. economic policies have created a wealth chasm in the economic spaces the "middle class" used to be said to inhabit ? the thing killing off indicators of middle class life? neoliberal predatory capitalism, AKA the american way

Personal debt they willingly accepted. Did they work to defray expenses in college? Attend comm college to reduce costs? Accept jobs that help pay back student loans? Didn't they accept this debt with anticipation of higher earnings at grad to pay it back? Personal responsibility

You're being totally unrealistic, in order to advance a punitive agenda against the poor. Trump has declared bankruptcy dozens of times - and to be fair, this is standard practice in business. Let the ordinary Joes have a little as well.

What is unrealistic about expecting people to be responsible about the amount of debt the take on? I' m just saying they should take actions to minimize that debt. They can still file bankruptcy if they fall upon hard times. The student loans will follow them. The other debt not.

So you’re fine with corporations having no responsibility but not individuals who made choices at 19yrs old! And because you love responsibility so much you’re willing to let an entire generation opt out of whole industries that need them? Ok

I didn't express my views on corp debt. An 'entire generation' is not being irresponsible regarding their obligations. If one possesses skills needed by an industry that should keep them employed so they can service their debt. Do you read what I write? Your reply makes no sense
