In light of the ICPP report, we should incentivize oil companies to help with geoengineering to extend the ice of the Arctic and research on cloud seeding instead of investing in new fossil fuel infrastructure.

Absolutely agree. Shifting subsidies is great place to start; U.S. spends $20 billion of public money on fossil fuel production/year. Would be great to remove it & shift to renewables. Shifting frame from "incentivize oil companies" to "standing up to Big Oil" would help a lot.

Also, the original Tweet says nothing about this transition, which is probably why it's being trashed. In energy politics, geoengineering & cloud seeding are common Trojan horses thrown about by Big Oil to avoid transition. So it's not a great place to start the conversation.

Why incentivise them with weak offers that won't do the job? They control these commodities because of theft and violence in the first place. Expropriation would be a fair solution and could directly reduce fuel extraction
