I’m sorry I was born white and privileged. It disgusts me. And I feel so much shame.

I was born poor as dirt but I recognize that being white I still have the advantage of white privilege. People are in denial if they don't accept this. It is the only way we will elicit change.

You shouldn’t feel shame about who you are. People should feel shame for not treating everyone equally. You don’t need to bring yourself down to help someone else rise up.

I get what she’s saying, though...I feel that way every time I discover someone I thought was a good, kind human being turns out to be a Trump voter. I was so naive to think most people were past that way of thinking.
