    In fact Modi went to the Assamese and promised to do NRC and throw out "foreigners" and went to the Bengalis and promised to shut down NRC detention centres. He got both their votes!

    Never heard any Assam refugee getting citizenship like that as we have a cut off date of 1971 which means state machinery is fully involved in determining citizenship status.

    District collector? They have been vested with discretionary powers to confer citizenship to refugees, this was the norm prior to CAA and I don't think the status quo will change. However, refugees living in only western states like Gujarat & Rajasthan could avail of the facility

    Wow, so , here’s how you handle this: 1. You fire the sexual harasser as well as “the boss” mentioned in the thread 2. You initiate an internal investigation into the work env at your stores 3. You apologise to this person and offer her her job back if she still wants it.

    Our maid, a 3rd gen Kolkata Muslim is worried could deport her as Modi hates Muslims. I told her CAA does not have that power & the CM has said won't be forced. But if anything happens we are with her. If 1 person aligned w/each woman at they'll feel safer.
