I'm not either. Not a fan of the new design either. His beak is too distracting and one of the most important features of a cartoon character is too focus on the eyes, and I can't with this new design. I prefer the old one much more.

Designs like this only perpetuate very toxic arguments about modern animation. It feels like they just focus grouped the shit out of this design.

I think the problems with the new design are 50% uninspired style and 50% pastel colors that oversimplify the original design

I’m not a senior artist but they could’ve done something like what I created. At least honor a bit the original design, and for the design to be successful you have to make it have a connection to the people. this is actually a significantly better redesign. the colors aren't horrendously oversaturated. the head shape is the same as before, and the wing is extended, making it more recognizable as a silhouette. legitimately good; i'd gladly accept this as new toucan sam instead
