Yeah... You can get noticed without ads. Even if your video has ads, if it is only getting a handful of views it is not getting promoted by YouTube. This is a false idea that every single monetized video somehow is advertised. I wish it were true, but it isn't.
Again, this is all a good fear if these videos had any chance of exposure in the first place. If you are literally just on the cusp of getting monetized/just been monetized, you are not getting any exposure in the first place. Neither of you - the monetized or the non-mon.

Then I'd like to hear your thoughts on the large difference in views on certain videos on small channels. One video gets 1k plus views, the other under 100. I appreciate that you've said once it's in the region of above 1k then it receives exposure from there --

But where does that large (to smaller channels) variation come from? Is it because it's on a tending topic? Because if so that implies it's being found by people looking for related videos or it's coming up as suggested.
