    some personal news: after 9 years as Brussels reporter for I will move to its Prague HQ to become Europe editor as of 2 March. I will still follow EU/NATO events & of course , and all other countries I happily call "my own"

    the Prague city council has agreed to rename a street near the 🇷🇺embassy the "street of Ukrainian heroes" and a bridge after the Ukrainian soldier Vitalyi Skakun. you already have a Boris Nemtsov square & an Anna Politkovskaya promenade nearby.

    no sanctions package on will be agreed today among EU foreign ministers but it will happen in coming days/weeks. banks, more oligarchs and possibly ports. On energy it is more problematic but one solution can be an oil tax instead of an outright embargo.
