Part of the problem when it comes to medical trust is that facts like the ones involving this issue are not told to people upfront. It's left to groups like us to inform people via Google searches, even informing doctors and nurses who don't believe these facts at first.

If doctors and nurses are not aware of the sources of WI-38 and MRC-5 and are giving patients truly inaccurate medical information (and they are, often, we get a lot of these calls), that's something Dr. Gorski should want to address, if he values real informed consent.

This lack of proper informed consent creates a situation where people put more trust in random groups online than their own doctors. Is that good? No. Dr. Gorski's short-term thinking is only harming his long-term goals.

This legislation isn't designed to "frighten" people into not getting vaccines. It's to inform them of facts, facts that aren't being given to them now, and it also gives patients a list of ethical alternative vaccines to pursue.

Dr. Gorski completely glosses over the ethical issues involved. It's not about "contamination," it's about taking human life and using it for medical research. Dr. Gorski may disagree, but he shouldn't mislead people about the main objection many people have to this.

He claims the bill "flows against medical evidence," but even he has to acknowledge the source of these vaccines. He claims it's not "tissue," but the cells are the same of the children killed in elective abortions to obtain them. Cells are tissue.

That the abortions happened very long ago is important for people to factor into their ethical considerations, but Dr. Gorski ought to know that research using tissue and cell lines from more-recently aborted children is ongoing, and new sources will be needed eventually.

Instead of talking about this, Dr. Gorski either purposefully or reflexively relies on his own fear-mongering to oppose this INFORMED CONSENT bill by claiming we're pawns of anti-vaxxers. Certainly someone who cares about evidence should be more careful with his words.

Dr. Gorski would seemingly rather patients not know to keep vaccine rates higher, which is essentially deceiving patients rather than addresses the ethical issues involved. People should not be forced to violate their conscience, by hook or by crook.

Now, perhaps we are wrong, and Dr. Gorski has never thought of the ethical implications of this. We're happy to address that with Dr. Gorski if he wishes to acknowledge that.

The long-term goal of prolifers in this is not to stop people from getting vaccines, but to have the companies that produce vaccines stop relying on elective abortions. The existence of ethically-created alternatives means we don't need to take human life to create vaccines.
