2/ Yes, Jen Psaki, make rapid tests FOR FREE FOR ALL. Why aren't insurance companies pushing back on having to reimburse rapid testing? Because this won't actually cost them much... because few will go through the trouble of submitting receipts for reimbursement.pic.twitter.com/XDCMHx8xQm

3/ People are most likely to change their behavior and adopt rapid testing if you make it free & easily accessible. Requiring someone to go somewhere for a test is not easily accessible. 50M free tests? That's one free test for 15% of the population.pic.twitter.com/G1ECqbuprQ

4/ @adamcancryn & @davidalim: You're perpetuating misconception that PCR is better than antigen testing here. It all depends on why you're testing & how you'll use the info. Same-day rapid antigen tests are much better for identifying who's infectious & preventing transmission.pic.twitter.com/j0YlTPdmR7

7/ The UK bought rapid tests in large volume. They negotiated down the price to less than $2 per test. Why can't we do that?!? When you make resources easily, consistently available, for free -- be that vaccines or rapid tests -- the demand will follow.pic.twitter.com/BvSgeFVni2

USG invested billions of taxpayer dollars into test companies to develop, validate, build facilities, scale production, & DPA prioritize supply chain to have these tests. Americans have already paid a hefty price, why should they pay even more to get tested? @politico @davidalim

It’s probably valid to look at half, if not more, of the RADx portfolio and ask, was this this right test to invest in?

We have to get over our pharmacy protocol: patients pay for pills one bottle at a time (oral meds). Even in USA, in the hospital, when we hang each bag of IV medication, we don't ask the patient to produce his/her credit card each time.

It is this caricature of bean counter capitalism that leads to the stupid approach of asking patients to beg for reimbursement from insurance co. for each COVID-19 test.
