This govt's fake outrage saying they will improve system of control 4 convicted terrorists convinces no-one. Current process was established, installed & managed by Tory govt in first place. At the same time as they reduced police numbers & privatised prisons. Gr8 record. Not!

With large maj why is govt still so insecure & petulant 2wards EU? Cld it be that they know that customs checks will hit manuf sectors like UK car prod which is now at its lowest level since 2010 ? Tory Brexit voters who mke prodcts exported 2 the EU will c their jobs go 1st.

Tariffs mean higher prices in the shops and levies on exports. They mean poorer individuals and job losses. So how many people voted for this? Johnson: I’d rather accept tariffs than obey EU rules

This is a brilliant project and could transform freight transport whilst helping meet climate change targets. Shopping delivered by magnet in pipeline

A Canada-type deal? Tariffs and quotas on agricultural imports. Over 550 restrictions on services trade ( official Gvt figure), and fall in expected GDP of almost 5%. And the upside is? PM wants Canada-style trade deal with Brussels

Oof! Bank of England predicts sustainable growth rate so slow it would severely limit any rise in real living standards, leave public finances struggling to meet demand for better public services, and constrain "levelling up" regions via

A German Green MEP laments our departure from the EU. Such solidarity brings tears to my eyes. It has taken years to develop. And the Breteers glory in destroying it. We must do all we can to keep it alive.

Car production falling quickly because of over-reliance on diesels. With EU customs checks post-Brexit, chances of getting the investment needed to build electric vehicles in UK low. Expect further output falls. Car production falls to lowest in a decade

R L-B has an extraordinary, rose-tinted view of the old nationalised BT here. Quite a leap of imagination to blame Huawei decision on a 36-year old privatisation!

Fortunately the Brexit Party is also finished, but it’s a very thin silver lining on a very sad day for Britain and for Europe.

Unsurprising that voters losing faith in UK democratic process when its’s so flawed. Much greater regional devolution and a fair voting system, essential if this faith is to be restored. UK voters suffer huge loss of faith in the democratic process

Whether or not the Huawei decision is sensible on its own merits, it seems an odd precursor to an attempt to rush through a US-UK trade deal. Surely it will make them more difficult. And surely they are more important for the UK than any Huawei contract.

This is going to be Johnson's Brexit in any event, so appropriate that he takes charge of negotiations. But negotiations need attention to detail and understanding of complex briefs. So a big ask for Boris.

Our Government wants to pivot our trade towards the US. This will only be possible if we accept their terms - which particularly in terms of food standards should simply be unacceptable to us, Britain heads for clashes with US on three fronts

Government loses Dubs amendment by 80, which proves that decency hasn’t yet deserted Parliament. There are no reasons whatsoever for them not now to accept it in the Commons other than arrogance and lack of humanity.
