How low?
What makes the Afghanistan situation so frustrating is that the US & its allies had reached something of an equilibrium at a low sustainable cost. It wasn’t peace or military victory, but it was infinitely preferable to the strategic & human catastrophe that is unfolding.

This proves the Taliban were much better equipped and higher in number then many assumed. They chose not to attack US bases.

But there was no will by the people to become a democracy. We were propping up soldiers who turned their weapons over to the Taliban as soon as we turned our backs. They do not care about their women. They do not. Don't blame Joe for calling it. It's time.

Looks more like Americans did their math and concluded Afghanistan is irrelevant to national security. Can be managed remotely. The rest is an echo of previous withdrawals and leaving allies/civilians to fend for themselves.
