@JessBidgood, @RichardFausset, and @MannyNYT: An earlier version of your Santa Fe article quoted (by name) a student who allegedly told reporters, "I don't think we should control guns." That quote seems to have been deleted without any editorial note. Why?
...or, rather, the sentiment behind it, is one I expect we will explore in depth. We are not leaving East Texas anytime soon.

Thanks for the reply, Richard. I appreciate it. And I should correct myself: after posting that tweet from memory, I found someone else’s screenshot from the article. The quote was, “We shouldn’t control our guns,” not, “I don’t think we should control our guns.” 1/

Maybe I’m also mistaken in thinking the NYTimes removed the quote from its site. But I reread the articles, searched the site for the quote, and searched for the student’s name. It appears to be gone. 2/
