If “Blessed Assurance” by Fanny Jane Crosby (1820-1915) & Phoebe Palmer Knapp (1839-1908) is a “contemporary Christian” song, then I just found a new favorite genre.
Born of His spirit, washed in His blood.

Ho ho. That’s fair. The version i was writing about, if I recall correctly, probably had a lot more earnest U2-ish delay-pedal action going on than the 1870s version.

I figured that was likely the case. Crosby wrote a ton of songs that are now classics and keep getting “covered” and reworked by contemporary artists. They’re very singable.
