I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has enjoyed my films. I am very proud of my filmography. I admit I’ve made some terrible movies but for the first thirty years that was just because the movie wasn’t as good as the script, and in the last 20 years it’s just because of money

I can't believe I'm saying these words...
I am 75.
Thanks everyone for sending me so many kind birthday wishes today!
I love my son @harrydreyfuss more than I could explain with all the words in the world. And I am so incredibly proud of him right now. twitter.com/harrydreyfuss/

When they asked me to do Jaws I said no. I said I wanted to watch it but not have to shoot it. Eventually I came to my senses. It only took a few weeks into production to realize that Steven was a genius and he was going to change the world. RIP Rob & Roy

I am 70 years old today. The best birthday gift I could ask for is the Dodgers winning. (And maybe a role in a Pixar film or two.)
Quint did not kill Jaws.

A sentence I never expected to write:
The President of the United States is wrong when he says good people can be friends with Nazis.
Close Encounters was released 35 years ago. One day we'll make a sequel where I return & have a difficult reunion with the kids I abandoned
I'm heartbroken. Carrie and I were friends for almost 40 years. The world just lost one of its best.

JoJo Rabbit is one of my favorite films of the last few years and I can’t wait to see ’s new Marvel film.
The greatest filmmaker of all time is 70 years old today. Happy birthday to my old friend Steven Spielberg. Love, RD.
This “what film character are you most like?” quiz seems a bit too on the nose openpsychometrics.org/tests/characte
Ben knows that the answer to this question is no, because though I support him, I am an old Jew and old Jews don't ride bikes.
"Jaws" came out 40 years ago. When Steven first came to me I turned it down. "Fun to see, awful to shoot!" Thank God I eventually wised up.
2016 is finally over.
Let's do our best to...oh damnit Trump isn't even president yet.
2017 is going to be worse, isn't it?
"Jaws" was originally a biopic about the man who invented braces but it tested poorly and so we added the shark in reshoots.
Jimmy Caan was one of those actors that always made me try harder. He was also one of the nicest people in Hollywood. RIP an icon
This is sick & cruel & we're better than this. Our grandkids will look back on this the way we look back at Japanese internment: with shame
My new film "The Last laugh" premiers on January 11th! Please watch it and love it and recommend it, otherwise time will continue to move forward and I will continue to age rapidly

I started acting at 9 & celebrated my 69th birthday today during the break between a matinee & evening performance. Thanks for the love!
This means something.

. is one of the funniest, nicest people I've ever worked with. She also deserves the Nobel for being the first to be right about Trump
One of the most fun times I’ve ever had shooting a film was Another Stakeout. It was a sequel to a very popular movie that maybe took too many years to make. But John Badham, Emilio, , Madeleine Stowe, Dennis, & Miguel, and I had a blast. I think about that set to this day
All surviving Republicans will look back on this campaign as Americans looked back on lynching, with overwhelming shame
I'm a manic depressive. I know what it's like to wake up & not recognize your own actions. The country is going to be feeling that very soon
Trump is a disgusting, dangerous pig. His supporters should abandon him—but don't let them forget that they did this. What's done is done.
It's 2013 and an American jury just acquitted a man who admitted to stalking and killing an unarmed child.

Goddam. It must get rough at Thanksgiving, listening to your dad regale everyone about working with Spielberg in the 70s, and knowing your only follow up is telling everyone about how you get ratio'd on Twitter for eating dog pills.
I'm sad. It's sad. My beautiful friend deserved not to be so sad.

I’ve never been very good at expressing my profound awe and appreciation of the brilliance that goes on in Hollywood ever year. But what a wonderful list of films the academy has nominated this year, after a very rough period of time. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Demi is one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. As is Bruce. An irony about working with both of them only late in my career is that by then they already knew my kids through school with their kids.

In 4th grade during recess a boy pushed me down and a piece of wood got stuck in my glass eye. The school wouldn’t remove it bc they were afraid of liability. Demi Moore walked in at the exact moment, saw me crying, scoffed at the teachers, and pulled the stick out of my eye. twitter.com/ynwatp/status/…
I'm not a Democrat. I'm, like Norman Lear, a compassionate conservative. And the only compassionate conservative running is Obama
"INSERTS" is a wonderful film I'm very proud of.
It is not "X rated" by today's standards. It shouldn't even have been X rated when it came out.
Bob Hoskins passed away a few years ago and it was a huge loss. His performance in this film is wonderful.

Glad to see the Republican Party finally give President Obama his due
People don't talk about it much in Hollywood (omertà and everything) but Cary Grant actually died in a #sharknado
Both of them are not only the loveliest people you get to work with, but also the most talented. “Red” with Bruce and “Very Good Girls” with Demi were both dreams come true. It was a privilege to get to see first hand the wonderful people my kids had always told me about.
Look at that MT Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason in Neil Simon's THE GOODBYE GIRL released 35 years ago today.
It was a great experience. Painful and prolonged but in the end undoubtedly worth it. Sort of like childbirth.
