Ireland is a civilised country except in this 1 area: http://www.newrepublic.com/article/119147/ireland-abortion-case-reveals-draconian-horror-catholic-law … You'd think the Roman Church would have lost all influence.

@RichardDawkins 994 human beings with Down's Syndrome deliberately killed before birth in England and Wales in 2012. Is that civilised?

.@AidanMcCourt Yes, it is very civilised. These are fetuses, diagnosed before they have human feelings.

@RichardDawkins @AidanMcCourt The fetus of a pig is a pig; fetus of an elephant, elephant. Fetus of a human being not human? What is it then

@StarTraveller @AidanMcCourt Learn to think in non-essentialist ways. The question is not "is it 'human'?" but "can it SUFFER?"

@richarddawkins Can you give any reasons why one question or the other matters?

@Roland_DeVries Yes. Suffering should be avoided. Cause no suffering. Reduce suffering wherever you can.

.@intelligent50 @richarddawkins You're right. Telling people they're not worthy to live is a major form of intimidation.

it does suffer @RichardDawkins @StarTraveller @AidanMcCourt do you suppose it wont react to the scissors?

      2. Stanley Taylor ‏@StarTraveller 20 Aug 2014

@JohnFict The fetus suffers psychological as well as physical pain in an abortion and therefore it does in fact suffer.

@RichardDawkins @AidanMcCourt If it feels pain, it is suffering. See http://www.abortionfacts.com/facts/13

@RichardDawkins Why is suffering all-important? Is it moral to end the life of an atheist professor if there is no suffering?

@RichardDawkins @AidanMcCourt Please remove my hashtag in from of your "suffer" tag. I am opposed to the notion you implied.

@RichardDawkins @StarTraveller @AidanMcCourt By that logic, it's morally acceptable to kill ANYONE provided he's killed painlessly.

@RichardDawkins @StarTraveller @AidanMcCourt But if you are wrong mr Dawkins, then "is it human?" is the most crucial question, isn´t it?

@RichardDawkins The WOMEN who are pressured into abortions because of fetal disabilities also suffer. I guess their feelings don't matter?
