what would be really cool is something like an FPGA but really hardy, able to be restructured billions of times before failing. every time the CPU has a task it needs done really fast a lot, it reconfigures the FPGA and has it do that.

Pretty sure most of that Gbs of data are dedicated to IP and FPGA-family specific "databases", not the IDE.
