Sometimes I think I should (really, not just minimal reading) learn some modern langs. Maybe JS and OCaml.
The reason to know JS is the same as the reason to know C - it's THE underlying language for gigantic platforms that are not going away for decades.

As for OCaml, the ppl seem way nicer than most language communities, and I have fond memories of it being the first language compiler/runtime to build & work against musl pretty much out-of-the-box, years before musl was even public.

Also, there's a massive C static analysis opensource framework written in OCaml
