well. it lights up the power LED, which means that the 3V3 power rail is ok. it does not enumerate. :/

AAAAAAAA i assumed ONE THING in this design. i assumed that the industry would get its shit together for one single component, crystal, and actually have a consistent pinout i assumed wrong. screw you too, industry.pic.twitter.com/ToVaD7EMju

well I rotated the crystal and it kind of works now. the FPGA doesn't configure, and I think I can't figure that out without a scope enjoy this multi-colored super-bright retina-burning glory I spent a *lot* of time carefully matching LEDs to be equally bright...pic.twitter.com/3WsOyna35s

I've configured the FPGA and talked to it via I2C! The issue was that a certain pin would tristate instead of going high because of an unknown issue. on the prototype I had a pullup, and on the board I have a pulldown, so I haven't discovered this before.

so... pretty much everything that I'm geared up to test right now works. the only thing that needed fixing was rotating the crystal. I'm calling this a massive success

found the cause of the issue with FPGA configuration: solder bridge so tiny I would have never found it by visual analysis; had to look at layout, identify potential shorts and clean them

I still can't believe that I got the power, digital, *and* mechanical all right on the first try*. all the connectors fit! the case actually assembles! I didn't forget any clearance anywhere! * the USB connector is off by like 1mm and the crystal got rotated but it's minor
