The other not-very-useful approach is "but you can't outlaw math!". Math has relatively little to do with the issues and the trade-offs and dilemmas we face (asterisk—there *are* issues but ... implementation + scale is the core question, not math.) (Reposted because of typo!!)

That ends up being awful for everyone - ordinary ppl's privacy is gone while nefarious actors with resources just choose non-mainstream tools.
