Anyone tried using pi zero w's as super-cheap non-crap (compared to consumer 'router' products) wifi bridges?
Can you recommend a good one that works as an AP? BTW you can fairly easily mod the rpi (zero or 3B) to add an external antenna.

I used the onboard WiFi as AP, since I only needed to bridge the gap over a few meters. The USB dongle on a long cable played WiFi client. I'm still wondering if you can also mod the new 3+, because it's 5GHz capable.

I don't see an obvious analogue of the regular 3B mod on the pics here:https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14643

Requires cutting a trace, if I'm not mistaken.
