I'm just going to assume that the poster is 8. We all spent a few hours trying to draw non-four-colorable maps when we first heard about this, right?

Except that we did try and kept getting stuck and developed an intuition that maybe there's some fundamental reason it never works, rather than just screaming in public that the theorem is wrong.

I did a bunch of stupid stuff like this in my first (and last :) formal logic class, but just with prof and 5 other students, where the aim was to learn from it, not in a public forum just to look like a dumbass. :-)
