Nobody noticed until we ported musl to sh because all the existing users were stuck on CodeSourcery forks of gcc 4.5 or whatever that didn't do tail calls. :-P
That reminds me of https://github.com/NetBSD/src/commit/d115adffb72d4dba0e11d23828ad29c675a10a99 …, where NetBSD/i386's signal trampoline assumed the signal handler wouldn't overwrite its parameters (passed on the stack).
