did you know that DDR4 timings are intimately dependent on temperature (there is a temperature probe inside the modules). for example, the hotter the RAM is, the faster it gets refreshed by the controllerpic.twitter.com/4KpjIwsHTz
Yeah, I do @musllibc, FOSS & infosec stuff. But now is not the time for a mostly-/only-tech Twitter feed.

Not just that, it also needs periodic runtime retraining. Which on Tegra210 is done... by the Linux kernel, because they were too lazy to implement it on the BPMP CPU. Guess which feature isn't upstreamed yet, totally killing performance since the RAM runs at safe boot timings?
I don't call that killing performance. I call it safe timing rather than overclocked crap that's going to error & make gaping holes under environmental changes.
let me guess, you never let the CPU in your desktop go into P-states either?
I'm sure he runs his RAM at DDR1 speeds just to be safe. FWIW, safe timings (without periodic retraining) on Tegra210 are half of the maximum supported qualified clockrate, and boot timings (without any training, i.e. no blob) are 1/8th.
If only someone would tell me how... ;-)
