Wow, finally found non-shit (and FOSS!) camera app for Android. https://f-droid.org/app/net.sourceforge.opencamera …

Further review: still like it & seems like best option so far, but the exposure controls are badly lacking & it has some bugs.

It's not very good. A 500 LOC sample app can take comparable/better pictures. Competitive low light still shots require computational photography like HDR+ to leverage multiple captures and there's no open source option available. Every vendor with a decent camera has their own.

Show me one with shutter time control. That's literally all you need to take good pics, but without auto it's a pain.

I do NOT want vendor's camera app because I don't want to be stuck switching apps whdn switching vendors. That's utterly idiotic snd backwards.

Sure, this was a big problem for us on Nexus phones and 1st generation Pixels. Long exposures for low light shots aren't comparable to the high quality still shots provided by a vendor's camera app, especially if you aren't mounting the phone on something.

I have no interest in long exposure. I need ≤ 1/75s exposure regardless of how much noise or darkness it yields.
