So, apparently @twitterdev have decided to kill off third-party app support as of June — apps won't be able to support push notifications or auto-refresh streams and will only the same feed as the web, with ads, no lists, and random stuff people have liked.

Seems apps can/could just adapt and use the http api the web client does. BTW the mobile web client is quite good with an adblocker.

Anyone doing that at scale gets banned, and because it's a CFAA violation under current legal interpretations, that ban can have real teeth. They can likely get apps pulled from the app stores, and they can definitely kill the accounts of folks who use them.

Really? NewPipe doesn't get banned doing it with YouTube.

IMO it's the "obviously-right" wsy to access a service, puts you on equal ground. Too often API key based stuff gives app different, sometimes greater access (like unwanted access from their cloud service).
