As long as they don't get rid of the API ("ALSA OSS emulation"), no big deal; it's just a change in internal driver architecture & removal of bitrotted code.

Goodness no I hope you're not serious. Those things are evil. Break all sorts of properties (AS-safety, etc.) of core functions like open(), introduce random bugs you expect only on Windows (DLL injection hell), and don't work with static linking.

Any sort of LD_PRELOAD is at best a quick hack to get bad software working, and ideally just a debugging/RE tool. Not something remotely reasonable to deploy to users or use everyday.
