If you think whatever you're doing with an open-source tool or codebase is so secret/so lucrative for somebody else to "steal" that you can't provide sufficient background context when asking for help, GET OFF IRC/MAILING LISTS!

Go find someone who does professional consulting on whatever it is you need, sign a reasonable confidentiality agreement, and pay what parties with secrets are expected to pay.

Don't ask volunteers to subsidize whatever you're doing by spending 10x the time they should trying to help you because you're intentionally omitting information or providing misinformation.
