If your house gets burgled, the only way you get any money back is by securing a police report, but I refuse to ever call the pigs. So it’s actually not “irresponsible” of me to forgo renter’s insurance—it’s a necessary part of living according to abolitionist principles.

Yes. Unless you have lots of stuff that's lucrative for theft, fire loss is pretty much the whole/only point of renter's insurance, and it is a good idea.
