The design goals and interface look nice, but musl generally doesn't act as an initiator of new APIs without signs of consensus that other implementations intend to support compatible interfaces. Have you reached out to others yet?

glibc is a lot more receptive than they used to be; I'd post something to libc-alpha. Ping me when you do if you'd like me to reply on it. Hopefully some BSD folks will see these tweets too and have some idea if any BSDs are interested in discussing it.

Personally I think software should just avoid use of signals for these purposes because the issues you raise make them non-library-safe and otherwise problematic, but your interfaces would change most of that if widely adopted.
