To me it comes across as a thinly veiled form of bothsidesism. The whole point of 'alt right' being 'alt' is that they don't want to see/brand themselves as conventionally conservative. But the ideologies (esp race&gender ones) are clear.

Yeah but those things aren’t in conflict. There is a difference in their tactics, their methods, who they partner with, how they recruit. There’s a reason not to dismiss them as “just more conservatives”. You can’t fight a problem until you name it.

I think I understand the wariness of the both sides framing.But nothing here is about letting the alt-right off the hook.
