A reasonably configured IRC server does not both provide both evidence of company affiliation and anonymity. 2/N
That's a good question but there are a lot of important differences from an IRC server. 1/N

IRC is not organized by company affiliation or advertised for such use. 3/N
-
Aside from invite-only or pw-protected channels, IRC channels are usually open to the public, not just one company's employees, making nasty behavior in company-oriented channel costly (bc outsiders may be watching). 4/N

If an IRC channel is private, invitations have to go out-of-band. It's not just "random racist/misogynist employee goes to check if his workplace has a forum for like-minded people". 5/N
