are there tabletops made out of a material that isn't absurdly heavy, isn't slippery, and withstands heat/water up to ~100C asking uh for a friend

that does seem like a reasonable way to do this, though, assuming beech can stand up to these temperatures and steam. i'd be concerned the moisture would compromise the wood over time but maybe not if you pre-treat it properly?

Seal it with an exterior-use poly designed for softness (non-cracking) rather than hardness.
