It's worse. Not only are they failing to be user-agents. They're actively behaving as content-provider-agents.

I pointedly disagree. If I was still as my old roaming sysadmin job, I'd hear how much trouble keeping up with browsers release is, because they can no longer trick/track the user as they used to before.

Just because they've moved from 10 steps on the content-provider side of neutrality down to 7 steps doesn't mean they're neutral or pro-user now.

They continuously add new features to put users at risk not b/c of user demand but for the sake of letting content providers push new flashy stuff in front of users.
