I don't remember "cyber" being a place in meatspace. What are you talking about? I do remember when "cyber" worked its way into the public vernacular as part of "cyberspace", though, and that was glorious.

Short for cyber-cafe, of course.

I seem to recall it being "internet cafe" until it started becoming "cyber-cafe" for about three months, then it went away altogether because they all went out of business.

I guess, in short, the lack of "cyber" being short for cyber-cafe might have been localized, if the use of it wasn't.
