As long as they keep their software up-to-date with the latest Microsoft/Apple patch, the average user doesn't need to care about the Meldown/Spectre attacks.

We care, because these attacks are forcing a redesign of both CPUs and operating-systems from which computers are made. So it's a Big F***ing Deal, but that doesn't mean average users need to care.

This is false. Spectre is just as dangerous and can't be mitigated by the OS.
