I have a serious question: Is there a good way to learn git? Like a 2 hour ultimate video tutorial or something. I still do kinda this: https://xkcd.com/1597/

For an audience that understands data structures, I'd start with data model: a DAG where nodes are every historical state of your project tree worth remembering/documenting, edges represent "based-on" relationships.

With an emphasis that patches are just a way of visualizing difference between nodes, and have no fundamental existence in the data model. This was the hardest thing for me to get at first.
