I'm open to arguments why it shouldn't be allowed, but this seems both reasonable and desirable.
Seems ok to me too, and extremely valuable for C++ that's bloated only because of allocs in ctors.
Yeah. I can't see any vaguely HLL being performant without this one.
I think the only safe way to do this optimization is to [pretend to] actually allocate the space on the stack & only if you can safely assume it fits.
Heuristic limits are not enough; if you assume-success for malloc(N) with N<1k, I can just loop 4M times for a contradiction.
