Basic combinatorics shows the that there are now (2^32)^280 possible tweets. Advanced methods show that only 20 of them are worth reading.

probably something to do with the number of unicode codepoints, but that isn't right either, since twitter counts all above a certain # as 2

2^16 = U+0000..FFFF (BMP), 2^20 = U+10000..10FFFF (SP). The 17 planes. But should also subtract U+D800..DFFF (non-tweetable surrogates).

BIDI controls (?), C0 control codes (most) also forbidden. Normalization removes many singletons (KELVIN) and combinations.

All codepoints above U+1100 should count as two, but this check is done client-side. Trivial to circumvent in TweetDeck.
