FWIW the above was _already_ an overflow. Tweet limit is not in char[] but (Unicode) characters, thus up to 560 bytes + NUL.

And twice that with the new limit, of course, so 1120 bytes + NUL.

unit32_t they allow Unicode so 4byte code points. so ~564 chars max buffer len in old code.

Yep. Actually 561 with NUL termination - the content can be arbitrary Unicode up to 4 bytes in UTF-8, but NUL is just 1 byte.
