Well it should at least not save with an executable extension when origin is not https.
Many things should not happen without https. That we still have to hunt for .exe's at random places on the Internet is another big problem
Don't Windows and macOS do signing now on executables by default? Perhaps it's more on the OS?
At best it's a click-thru to bypass on Windows.
Also it's reasonable to want to trust binaries based on standard PKI (CAs) & domain identity rather than MS walled garden signatures.
Kinda, except that the server cert may be fine, but the binary could be compromised.
Seems like the walled garden approach, or signed binaries works better than relying on HTTPS.
