Abstracting the marshalling to begin with would have greatly reduced the overall coding effort.

You make a valid point. Though Sortix doesn't have 32-bit on 64-bit on purpose (partially for this reason), keeps things a lot simpler.

FWIW: for the ISA+"OS" I was working on, 32 on 64 was a major use-case I would need to address for 64-bit. decided on 32b only for now...

was originally also going to have the 64b ISA core emulate a 32-bit SH4 on boot, but decided against this (too much added complexity).
