If you run the Sarahah app, there's a good chance you've sent them every name, email & phone # in your address book.https://theintercept.com/2017/08/27/hit-app-sarahah-quietly-uploads-your-address-book/ …
How and why are phones still allowing access to contacts without explicit opt-in? Uhg. WTF.
-
-
iOS requires explicit opt-in 100% of the time
-
(one) problem: prompts make no distinction between "app needs to access" vs "app will send them all to the mothership"
-
Distinction is meaningless because they *always* do the latter. The permission should just be called "upload all your contacts to the cloud"
-
Have you ever encountered an app that could do something meaningful only processing them locally?
-
but Contacts, but most apps accessing my camera roll presumably aren't uploading it all. But yes, I assume malice.

s/but contacts/not Contacts/
