libtool's evil has no bounds. libltdl (libtool dynamic loader) parses .la files at runtime, breaking systems that rm *.la to fix that crap.

FWIW the whole library seems broken and unsafe - global state, no locking.

What does this purportedly offer relative to the standard issue dynamic linking and dlopen?
-
The same thing libtool does but for runtime - puts a broken abstraction layer around the existing clean interfaces (dlopen,
$CC -shared).
